wood + neon

a study of contrasts, this new body of work pairs wood and neon, the organic and inorganic, the curvilinear and the rectilinear.

there is a tension in this jutxapostion, not just between the materials themselves, but in their relation to the force of gravity; in one work the neon cantilevers effortlessly at the branch tip, while in another it defies expectations with the glass tube acting as a structural and load bearing element.

clusters

created from all manner of reclaimed commercial signage, these neon fragments have been recontextualized, reconstituted, and reconstructed into large scale assemblages.

while rigid in form (they are interlocking and self supporting), their appearance skews towards the fluid.
density, form, and color all shift with the viewer’s perspective and vantage point.
